I caved.

Yesterday, I bought the "mini" Witching Hour" chart I blogged about the other day.  I just couldn't stop thinking about it. I am such a geek. Haha!!

I went to Michael's last night with the husband and got all the DMC floss for the new chart.  I decided I wanted to store this floss a bit differently, so I bought a box and the bobbins and spent most of the evening organizing the floss. I'm embarrassed to admit how much fun it was.

The bill was the longest piece of paper I've received in a while.  Tee hee!

1/4 floss "bobbin'd" after 2 hours

Sadly, Michael's did not have the fabric I needed, so I am off to another shop on Monday, just outside the city, to get it.  The chart suggests 25 ct Linen or 18 ct Aida but I think I will go with the same fabric I used for the Hermit - Hardanger - but will stick to the 25 ct as suggested rather than scale down to the 22 ct.

Target completion date - January 2016.

  1. Looks like a fun project. Sorry to hear you didn't support your local shop by purchasing all of your thread and cloth in one trip. It might have cost a little more for the thread, but supporting your local store as a first choice instead of a last-option source would help insure that the shop is in business whenever you need a cloth selection. I wonder how the shop owner will feel when she figures out that you're doing a large project and her business only warranted a piece of cloth while the large ultra discount company, that has eliminated thousands small businesses, was the first place you went for 40+ skeins, bobbins, and a storage box. I don't own a LNS, but urge everyone who can to support the store near them. These small businesses are the lifeblood of our hobby, not Michaels.

    1. I thank you for the comment. I do purchase my supplies from local merchants, and actually did purchase everything for my first HAED project at a local, small business store two years ago, which I do plan on returning to this week for the fabric. While I appreciate the smaller business (and actually use one down the street from me for all of my framing), sometimes when you just NEED to get the floss NOW, the bigger store is where I go.
